The end of the screw machine era
IMTS 2026 is coming to an end, and one thing is already clear: our deliberately provocative message did exactly what we wanted it to do. It started a conversation.
Throughout the show, manufacturers stopped at our booth specifically because they wanted to understand why we believe the traditional screw-machine production model is becoming increasingly inadequate for todayβs manufacturing requirements.
Some came simply because the message challenged something they had taken for granted for years.
Then curiosity became discussion.ππ‘π πππ¦ππ¨π¦π¦ππ’π‘π¦ πππππ π π₯πππ π’π£π£π’π₯π§π¨π‘ππ§πππ¦.
We generated new qualified leads, including companies that had never previously engaged with Buffoli. New applications and requests for quotations are now being followed up, while customer visits and technical assessments are being planned to analyze existing production systems directly on the factory floor.
Perhaps the most significant feedback from our US team was that the campaign opened doors to companies where we might otherwise never have had the opportunity to start a conversation.
And that was precisely the objective.
Today manufacturers need to combine high-volume productivity with flexibility, fast changeovers, full CNC control, integrated automation and increasingly unmanned production.
But this technological transition goes far beyond replacing screw machines.
Buffoli develops bar-fed transfer systems, transfer machines for cast and forged parts, flexible machining systems, wire machining systems, dedicated machines for high-precision balls and multi-station vertical turning systems for components requiring extremely high precision and superior surface quality.
Different components require different technologies.

The real success of IMTS was therefore not simply attracting attention. It was turning attention into questions, questions into technical discussions, and technical discussions into real opportunities.
A big thank you to everyone who visited us in Chicago, to our Buffoli North America team, and to all the manufacturers who accepted our invitation to question established production models and explore a different approach.
